The scarcity of water is becoming an important political and social issue that needs to be addressed. Understanding the importance of water conservation and how we get our water are the primary foci of this trip. Students will learn:
• What a watershed is, what a water reservoir is, how we use water as a resource, how we manage our water for
quantity and quality;
• The multiple uses of the LSCR and how they are sustainably balanced;
• The characteristics and functions of the many living and non-living components and environments of our
watershed ecosystem;
• The facts of ecology, its related issues, and resource management; and
• The impacts that humans have on the natural environment and ways we can help to reduce these impacts.
