Eagle Lake Membrane Filtration Facility and Citrus Wynd Wastewater Treatment Plant

Students will visit Eagle Lake and learn about the source of 50 percent of the District’s water. At Eagle Lake Membrane Filtration Facility the tour will go over the mechanics of the plant and treatment process, as well as water conservation issues. Afterwards the bus will make a brief stop at a pump station responsible for dispensing water to all corners of the District. The facility’s microhydro electrical generation will also be discussed. With newly acquired knowledge about source treatment, the next leg of the tour will take students to Citrus Wynd Wastewater facility to learn about wastewater treatment. More specifically, students will be given an overview of storm and sewage systems in West Vancouver and learn about primary, secondary, and tertiary treatment types. Emphasis will be placed on what can and cannot be placed down the drain and their corresponding environmental impacts. Have students bring their questions, concerns, and enthusiasm!
Note: All half day tours include a tour to one of the locations listed above
Tours are intended for groups of 30 students. Full-day tours are $550. Please consider the additional cost for a TOC, if necessary.
As a non profit, all money generated from the tours:
- Help offset operational costs (fuel, driver, insurance, etc)
- Assists lower income schools
- Covers some fees for the site
- Pays for instructional material and workshop materials (for particular tours)
